55Fiction

Silent river

A raft drifted on the silent river. The camera whirred and the khaki-clad man on the raft whispered, “Here we are, in search of the largest croc to swim in these waters. He is huge, silent and a nasty predator. He is hi …”

SPLASH…; a few bubbles and the river was silent again.

Two regulars at Kafka cafe, Rahul and Maverick had done the 55fiction thing on their blogs and left an open tag. so the Stygian Sailor took it up and wrote the above.
Anyone is welcome to take up the tag if they be interested.

rules of the tag:

1. only 55 words or lesser to produce a work of fiction.

there are other rules which have been ignored for the Sailor's convenience . if anyone wants to know the full rules, Google has answers.

re rahul: thanks dude. actually your way of handling the 55 words was better. i wrote 78 words, then i edited to 65 and then i deleted the whole thing and rewrote it again. quite tough this thing.

the story was inspired by steve irwin of course, but the style- i wanted to make it Roald Dahls ish, again 55 words too less :)

re maverick: thanks maga. it was indeed inspired by Steve Irwin, but the setting is incomplete i felt.
